September Ender

Pardon me for this post. I'm just gonna squeeze it in to round up my total posts to 20 for the month of September. I got 6 posts on my first month and 14 on my second. Twenty for the third is not at all a bad growth, is it?

It's Octoberfest tomorrow! Oh, yeah!

The Oktoberfest is a two-week festival held each year in Munich, Bavaria, Germany during late September and early October. It is one of the most famous events in the city and the world's largest fair, with some six million people attending every year.

We, Filipinos, Octoberfest harder dito sa Pinas!

Weekend Apps Change

So, after days of trying to fix my USB problem, I decided to reformat my Windows XP partition when the same problem plagued my other new USB. The new USB was given another life. Saved. And cheers to the old for it will probably end up in the dusty corners of the already dusty and useless side of the room. Bringing the "write-protect" problem along.

Because Globe and Smart Bro was decent enough to turn me off from subscribing to their services because I live in a boardinghouse, I made a trip to the fastest cheapest internet cafe' in town(infront of Hotel Sogo Cebu) to download new stuff for my Windows Vista older brother.

Gambit, Marvel's new bad guy

Being a Marvel comics and trading cards collector growing up, learning about Gambit shifting sides from superhero to supervillains is a bit shocking. A bit shocking because it's clear, back then, that it IS Gambit's boots, he must be examining, like vultures, the deathland of X-Mens, on one of Marvel Universe Mystery's trading card series.

Move over Magneto, hit the deck Doctor Doom—there’s a new breed of bad guy in the Marvel Universe. With the aforementioned pair lying low, the Kingpin ousted from power and most of the heroes focused on battling one another, a motley crew of also-rans, new faces and long-dormant threats has emerged to fill the vacuum of evil...

...THE MARAUDERS
The X-Men have found themselves under siege of late not only from familiar foes, but once-trusted friends as well. The Marauders combine the worst of both worlds, with former teammates like Gambit, Mystique and Sunfire standing shoulder to shoulder with sworn enemies Exodus, Random and Scalphunter.

“Gambit is going back to his roots in the worst possible way,” laments X-Men writer Mike Carey. “Hanging with Sinister and the Marauders—it’s like ‘Mutant Massacre’ all over again, except this time he’s got a really twisted agenda that’s all his own.”

How to enable a write-protected USB?

No. No buttons or switches in the USB Flash. It was last used in an internet cafe. Both Windows and Linux(Ubuntu) could not format the disk.

Second question in my mind that would be helpful in solving my problem is: How to change access/permission in a write protected USB flash?

This post should be crawled in by robots from all the WWW's search engines.

MESSAGE IN A BLOG: To all technical guys, please do type the keywords(from my questions) and provide solutions. I'll be googling ang yahooing until I get this fixed.

Muse Sing: Slipping Away with No Umbrella

In this rainy and cold days of September, getting warm, or hot wet, and lazy in bed with a soothing music no one other but, the only, Cynthia Alexander could paint is like nirvana if I were a meditating karmic bald guy or sanctity if, again, I were a kneeling, cross faith-ed, Jesus wafer eating good guy among many other sky hopers. This week's Muse Sing, step back Barbie and Kitchie, is all Cynthia Alexander's Insomnia & Other Lullabyes.

Poultry Rocks

Most fowls always taste like fowl. This fowl though tasted like Koreans. It's Korean-style fowl cooking you get for 75Php at Ayala Food Choices. How many times have I eaten this sizzling plate? Couldn't count. Ever seen a Korean eating it? Haven't.

The Weekend is a Landfill

Going provincial on a weekend wasn't as enjoyable as when I was 17. The establishments I used to hangout were either burnt, which was a businessman tactic in Dumaguete city, or closed. This "loyalty" factor in Oriental Negros' consumers are a businessman's pain-in-the-ass that they would opt to burning so they could introduce new "stuff" when Negrenses forget to remember the ashes of how they used to live. Get this, Milkmaid, long after it was scrapped in other markets was still being distributed in the island. If you are a businessman with Judy Ann Santos in mind to market your new evaporada, how would you wanna bury the old stuff? And, no, giving out free samples doesn't work here.

I stayed home and crunch the weekend away with television. Cable tv here doestn't have the expensive channel blockade yet so browsing was still enjoyable.

JavaScript Objects: Regular Expressions

Regular expressions are arrangements of characters that form a pattern that can then be used against strings to find matches, make replacements, or locate specific substrings.

This is the first time that I didn't have to learn a thing by myself. Finally learnt something from school and it's only a month before I really have to say goodbye to the school days.

Get out, Chicken Farters!

Tootsie and I picked up one of this really thin pizza from this oh-so-very-expensive franchise from somewhere and a whole fried chicken to fill up our oh-so-picky digestive bags just so a birthday would feel like a happy birthday.

Everything went well until the sleeping minutes when you have to do this lip touching thingy. Seconds before that I shoot one silent "butt air". That air-conditioned the room pretty fast. The whole four corners of the room smelled like how a butt air should smell but not to my sleepy partner.

*Mwuah*

You farted and it's chicken!

Huwag Bumili ng Manila Standard

My aunt was once an OFW. She was employed as a cook of a Filipina and former Consul General of the Philippines in Hong Kong(Circa 1999 or a little earlier). Her pay was lesser than any OFW in HK. But that is not the sentiment of this post because I've long, with my mom, given up the attempt to bring "justice." She was, in anyway, not supportive of the effort.

Treading on Tender Feet

I'm torn. That's the ick-iest post opener I could coin after all the decisions I've made lately. The decision to work on OUR school project alone(doing everything), commit to a job offer and indecision to find a new boarding house(still no word from Globe about my Plan 999, must be the location, should be). These are major things that could alter my universe if I happen to pick poorly.

Body check: Everything's fine except for some muscle spasms due to my intolerance to moving air - electric fan.

Google AdSense: Hybrid Ad

I first seen this so-called hybrid ad from my Camp Chicosci website. It caught my eyes but not my curiousity because maybe I was comfortable seeing the algorithm changes that Google does day after day. I even thought, well, this could be my doing because it has become my habit to stick two kinds of Google ads which minus the "Ads by Google" text line just looks like the hybrid one.

Reading about it from Yugatech made me curious and hope one day I could write my own "Hybrid" experience too. Well, yesterday was my lucky day because I managed to take a screen shot of it when it appeared right here, in this blog.

Notice the highlighted part. Clicking it will swap a new ad changing what is already shown above it without leaving the page. That should also mean that no money is being generated unless of course your visitor clicks on the actual ad. Good thing about this is, well, it makes your ad more relevant. The fruit thing is because this ad appeared below an entry entitled "This was the fruit."
